GOLDFINCH
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Finch, finch, finch
Feathery feathers of paradise sing sing sing
Far away
Far away
Where the sky touches the Moon I’ve kept my feathers away to be with you
Like the bird of paradise you put a spell on me
Like the sunlight reflecting on a drop of dew
I keep wandering around to be near and nearer to you
Like a bard with no eyes I keep dreaming of you
Centuries went by thinking of you
Still I get enthralled listening to you
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Who are you
What are you
Are you the reincarnated soul of the poets, pagans, prophets known
unknown
Are you the gods, goddesses who we worship, then sink down the river
below
Enigma of enigma
Shadow of shadow
Light that laugh
Darkness that rebuke
The reverie of memory reminiscing in rue
The rhythm of music that the monsoon muse
The lonely tune of the flute that soothe the sorrowful soul
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Liquid gold
Glittering glare of the descending moon
Marigolds merrymaking around the golden dome
O how I want to fly away with you
On board thy wings of pink purple yellow hue
Below the blue lie
Above the blue fly
In between the sacred space my unrequited love sigh
Yet I cannot separate myself from the magic of thy mystical smile
My flesh is lustful
My mind is mute
I try to contemplate about life, death, and due
Below the bough of sighing sycamore, and weeping willow
Each day I witness silently the haste of the passing clouds; the waves
that are rushing and rolling unto the watery wavy breasts of the fluid
foam
Then the evening comes around trailing the twilight one and two
The cow-herd heads home dusting the rustic roads with their weary-worn
bleeding hooves
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Take me with you
Take me with you
I’ve to see the show behind the show
Green is the grass
So is the view
Speech is silver
Silence is gold
I met my lover by the bank of Rome
She was a Roman daughter
As pretty as a precious, pristine, peaceful moonlit pool
Everytime I would made love to her she would cry and moan
Like Aphrodite herself
She was always in my inner soul
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Where you go
Where we go
How did life begin
And how will it go
Torn-tulip-tear
Robbed-rose-fear
Shadow shake in shaky fair
Life’s a play
Players are all rehearsed
While the curtains are drawn
The players must depart
Rewind
Forward
Write
Rewrite
Before
After
Who hear
Who will hear
Cycle
Recycle
Heed
Heard
Here
There
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
I’m here
I’m nowhere
I’m like you’re forever everafter the victim of prayer, player, payer
Like a rafter floating away upon the river
Like a drifter drifting away toward nowhere
Singing the song unheard in the melodious meter
I’m you’re dreaming far near
Like the stars that are twinkling upon the zephyr still sky
And a bud of rose waiting to be a wife
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Who are you
Who am I
I’ve become enchanted looking at thy enchanting beguiling eyes
Like the mighty Sphinx upon the desert of timeless span and screen I
scream not to scream
Being the silent witness of the fall and rise of many a kings and queens
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
O my goldfinch
How you fly
How you sing
Like the bulbul lovelorn lingering alone in the lonely thickets of
bamboo, lime, and betel leaves
While the late-night moon is waning and dissolving in dream
Like the nightingale in the night in gale neighing in the woebegone
unsteady wind blowing from the lonesome lovers’ more lonely tombs and
wings
The maidens in Ganges
Knee-deep in shallow ends
Fill up their empty pitchers with holy fluid in the rhythmic swing and
sway of their curvaceous wholesome hips
Some bathe gently
Some swim like water-nymphs
Their beauteous nubile breasts undulate beneath the ripples of lily-
lotus-lips
Henna on feet
Anklets on ankles
Bangles on wrists
Clips of ivory holding together their long long hair floating as silk
The water of Ganges baptize their limbs
The virgins swoon to watery bliss
The married maidens keep their lips wide, wet, and quick to the
invitation of the rushing rippling liquefying myth
Water hyacinths
Harbinger of peace
Like pieces of painted glory painted on a picturesque pastoral poetic
piece
Indigo hued
Blued blue
Like the eyes of iris the water hyacinths glow
Oranges and tangerines grow grow grow
Vineyards red white the farmer’s cottage sow
The paddy-fields in monsoon move away to muse in the murmuring wind of
the rain-clad-moon
Goldfinch, goldfinch, goldfinch
Hundreds fathoms deep the skeletal remains of my forefathers grieve
I’m to follow soon to the home of the deceased
Alas! I won’t see you there evermore
O how I wish I were you
Singing so carefree
Singing so high and low
Atop the tip of the pine and sycamore
O as if I’m too drunken to move having drunk too much of dreamy dope
The potent poppy
Crystalline cold
Frozen extremities
Cold sweat forming on my fold
Feelings halted in the empyrean hold
I start to fly without wings or oars
Color after color disappear and disrobe
I see daughters of alphabets with the poetry pure
Approach me to make sense of the seven-sinning-sins
Vice and virtue
Beauty in a bowl
Some I take them
Some I tow
Till I write a poem in utter drop-out zone
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Please don’t go
I’ve to see the show in the show
Take me away with you where you go
I’m lonely
I’ve no home
Let me be with you
Let me be you
On board of thy wings of paradise I want to will my soul to see the
face of God behind the veil of veiled-view
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Who are you
What are you
I’m like you’re
Do not know
The reason of my being being in the show
Therefore
I sing like you
Silently
Sighingly
Like a drop of dew
The butterfly flinched one and two
Before she dies quivering her little toe
Goldfinch
Goldfinch
Let us go
To the other side of the sacred sacrosanct sequestered secret sylvan
show
Where the golden domes of paradise await our boat
To take us to the One and Only XYO!

End of show
Please do come tomorrow
We shall see a brand new show—
