Crawling Back to Life

By Nishat Akhter
Confused, looking for answer
She wandered, here and there.
Distraught by her ruthless past
She hoped this dark era won’t long last.

When the time was flying
As all her dreams were dying
She cried for help.
Failed, when tried to put an end
Tired of being scared
She felt smothered.

Although she did look calm
The scars were right there, dancing on her arm.
Staring at her own broken shadow
Yearning for a way free from this hollow.

It’s time to move on
She then murmured.
But no one knew
How far she could crawl back.
