As the monsoon has arrived bringing out the romantic poet in everyone yet again, MonsoonLetters brings forth “Love in Monsoon” – a competition of love poems. The entries will be judged by Syed Badrul Ahsan, executive editor of The Daily Star and a noted littérateur, and the names of the winners will be announced in the July edition of the Monsooners’ Club on the 19th.
Prizes:
There will be three trophies/crests in the categories:
“Best Love Poet”—three winners in this Category
“Best Dedication” —Every poem must be submitted with a dedication. Best dedication will win this award.
“Best Plogger” — Meaning the illustrator submitting photography/art most suitable to their poem.
The winners will receive MonsoonLetters certificates signed by Syed Badrul Ahsan himself and bookstore gift vouchers.
To add more, a selection of the best entries will make their way in the publication, too.
The event on 19th July will be followed by a performance of love songs by Imran Rahman, VC, ULAB while the best ten will have the chance to recite their poems at the event.
Here are the submission guidelines:
(1) Theme: Love
(2) Maximum number of lines per poem : 16 (yes, sweet sixteen 😀 )
(3) Send in a dedication along with your poem.
(4) Send in a piece of photography or art that suits the mood and content of the poem.
(5) Write a short bio introducing yourself in the body of the email
(6) The poems submitted must be in .doc form. The photograph/art must be in .jpg form.
(7) Multiple submissions are welcome.
