BIOGRAPHY
Rebecca Sultana was born in Kaduna, Nigeria and grew up in different places in Pakistan until she was 11. While teaching at Chittagong University, Rebecca left for the U.S. on a Fulbright fellowship for a Master’s in American literature. Soon, however, she was initiated into postcolonial and cultural studies. Perhaps reflecting on her own situation, Rebecca’s Ph.D. dissertation (1999) was on cultural resistance among contemporary American Diaspora writers. After a six year stint in Dhaka from 1999-2005, Rebecca left for Canada. She lived for a year in Toronto while teaching at McMaster University. She mainly teaches, researches and publishes on Postcolonial literature which includes not only South Asian but also Caribbean and African.
